Plasmodium, from the genus plasmodium, as in those organisms which cause malaria are unicellular organisms.

Plasmodium, as in part of the life cycle of a slim mold, can be either acellular, in which multiple nuclei are encased by a single membrane, making them "unicellular" or they can be cellular, in which they have multiple cells and in a way are "multicellular." So they techincally can be both depending on the type of slim mold.
