The difference between a riddle and a joke is that a riddle is in the form of a question in which the answer has a witty response. Whereas a joke is usually a story whereby the end of the story, known as the punch line, is what generates the laughter. For example, a typical riddle is something akin to, 'What has four legs in the morning, two in the afternoon, and three in the evening? Answer: man' A joke would be something akin to, 'Two women are discussing politics. One asks the other, 'So what do you think about Red China?" The other woman replies, "On a yellow table cloth, I think it would look beautiful!"

A joke is when you laugh and a riddle is when you use your brain to answer a question that's tricky! Jokes tend to be funny, riddles don`t have to be. A riddle is a tricky question that you have to figure out.

A riddle is a cleverly stated question in which there are clues to the answer in the question itself.

A Ryme is generally elementary in nature, silly, not so serious form of word learning activity which helps expand a younger person's vocabulary and help them decifer the differences of words that sound alike but have different meanings through repetition, simplicity in presentation disguised with humor and fun.

A poem is the indulging of a person's innermost thought's and feeling's about how someone or something or some place has profoundly affected their lives whether good or bad, happy or mad through the use of verses, cadence and extended vocabulary usually by a person who has a better than average mastery of their respective home language. Usually a much more personal piece of work; and, quite often the lyrics are purchased and used in all types of contemporary music.

Some riddles can be funny; however, the original purpose of a riddle was to get someone to think.
