A biotic object is something that is living or had once lived. An abiotic object is something that is not living now and had never lived. Even though the fossil has become stuck in the rock, the rock and the fossil itself are still seperate objects. The fossil is the remains of a once living organism and is therefore biotic in origin.

No. Rocks are abiotic which means non-living. The reason rocks are not biotic is because they do not reproduce and do not follow all the standards that a living organism should have.
