It depends more on the program and whether or not it matches what you are looking for than the exact location. Everyone has their own personal taste about what they want in a Study Abroad program, but my personal advice when looking at study abroad programs is the following:

  • Look for one that integrates you with local students so that you can make friends with the local population and learn more about the culture, rather than a program run by a professor from your university who just happens to be teaching in a villa in the other country.
  • Look for a program that gives weekends off so that you can travel around or party more easily.
  • Look for a program that matches your current studies so that the credits transfer back and are useful for you.
  • Look for a program in a place where you feel safe, so you are not worried about personal security.
  • Look for a program where you will have access to the foods you like and the style of living to which you are accustomed; nothing sours a trip to Another Country more than being hungry and cranky.
