Although to really see for yourself if teachers care, you need to approach them with issues concerning grades or just your life. I even have two teachers I stay in contact with because they had an impact on me, and I know they care about me because they'll give up some of their time to listen to me.

Personally, for me its because the teachers can be mean, there is HOMEWORK! Kids can be mean, and its boring! Your brain works really hard, and some people who aren't used to that don't like it.
Why are most teachers mean?
No not mean but you see or may misconstrew as mean may be stern and trying to get through to you by means they may think still work. If you find that your teacher(s) is really be "mean" and not just because you don't like this particular teacher let someone know as they may not be treating you in a proper manner. Without actually knowing what they are doing its hard to say whether it is appropriate or inappropriate behaviour on the teachers part. You have to understand that we all have stern teachers but if you really pay attention and try you will find that in most cases they are trying to teach you, want you to learn and succeed and you may even find they are a person too and may not be as "mean" or as "bad" as they seem.
