They are animal -but more human than Alvin and co. characters, it is not possible to directly age-grade them. let us assume they are at least in their teens- as were their inspiration ( both Chipmunks and Chipettes) -the Ronettes, in their prime. David Seville, the manager, is based in part on Phil Spector. The new Mrs. Miller character may well be based on Beatrice Bennett who was the mother of Ronnie and Estelle- and aunt of Kissing-Cousin Nedra. The Ronettes were noted for unique singing style, a cohesive and cool- many different variants- stage act, and an exotic appearance. as of say, l963 when they went Commercial, Veronica was about 2l. Estelle 23, and Nedra- l7. Nedra, you see was not 20 until l966, so was technically underage all through their career. I happen to like the Ronettes, and the Chipettes are harmless fun and even historically accurate in part.
