- Yes, families are changing during contemporary times as the vast majority have fallen by the wayside when it comes to family unity and spending quality time together. With two parents working and many companies down-sizing and more over-time expected for those employees left many parents may have to work longer hours and are too tired when they get home to spend quality time with their spouses or children. This is turn can cause many problems in a marriage of feelings of either boredom in the marriage or that one or both spouses feels they are not appreciated and the children often feel neglected as far as knowing they have someone at home when the child in question may have a problem to be resolved. For most the days of sitting down as one family unit for dinner is replaced with fast foods or, 'lock key kids' children who come home to no parents because they are working. Some children come from middle class to wealthy parents and quality of time is often replaced with a plastic credit card so that teen can go and buy what they want. However, the up side is, that many parents are beginning to notice and wondering if all they do is worth it and some opt for a plan to have a simpler lifestyle with more quality of time and do so.
