yup, the film is partly true but the book series is 100%true Write to Daniel Handler and he will tell you that Lemony Snicket is his pseudonym, and that he made the whole Baudelaire story up. In fact, in the introduction of this section, it even says that Daniel Handler is the real author and that it is children's fiction.

Violet Baudelaire is real, infact they all are, but the experiences the baudelaire children had are NOT real. Lemony Snicket (A.K.A Daniel Handler) went to school with Count Olaf, although i am sure at that time he was not vishous, and i don't think he was a count ethier.
