Are there any side affects after getting a menangitis shot?

The side effects that are associated with the meningitis shot may be mild or serious. The most common side effects are redness and pain at the site of the injection. Very rare side effects include fever and an allergic reaction within minutes to hours of receiving the vaccine.

Generally speaking, they give the injection in your non-dominant arm (if you're right handed, you'll get it in the left). The side-effects of the meningitis shot are as follows:

-Pain/swelling at the injection site

-Tenderness at the injection site

-Body aches

-Chills

-Mild flu-like symptoms (eg, runny nose, cough, sore throat)

This is a list of the rarer symptoms that occur in much less than 1% of the people who get the meningitis shot.

-Guillain Barre syndrome. A neurological condition that causes paralysis, and sometimes, death.

-Meningitis. It is possible under very specific circumstances to catch the meningitis virus. Meningitis is an infection of the protective membranes that cover the spinal cord and the brain. It is treatable if caught early, but almost invariably fatal if not treated early.
