Well, if there isnt then I'm seeing things! I was shocked to see a Black squirrel with her baby in my back flower garden. I have never seen one, and it was truly a great thing. We have TONS of squirrels in the nieghborhood because of all the pecan trees. I have seen albino and the typical brown, but not the black.
Live in Texas, zip 75417, but community of Cuthand. This is East TX and we have lived at this house for 2 years. Nov 30, 2020...I saw a black squirrel off my back porch near the tree line. Yelled for my husband and when squirrel saw movement of him coming into den. It ran. It came back and this time I was prepared. Got video. he's right in front of the faux fox...a statue in the trees....but he takes off to the left. We also have small grey squirrels, red/brown fox squirrels (which we had in Euless,TX (DFW airport) So I was excited about the greys! But now...THE BLACK makes my heart flutter with joy. YES...black squirrels in my yard. Our neighbor down the road grew up here and in his 50's....said they've always been around here! I am so glad! I tried posting the video...but this site will not allow my link for some reason.

You can get red squirrels which aren't as aggressive as gray squirrels. Gray squirrels are quite common, but you can also find black squirrels. They are very shy and aren't as common as red and grey squirrels. Black squirrels have kind of mutaded from grey squrrels because of cross breeding. a squirrel is normally a light to darker brown. they can also be dark-light gray, or even sometimes a lightish blonde! They even come in white.
