The African Cape Lion was indeed a Black Lion. There are only 3 close to pure Cape Lions know to still be in existance. One in Syberia and 2 in South Africa. Though they are not Pure Bred Cape Lions they have the most dominate features in comparison to other lions with black markings. They are much larger in size and muscle mass than other breeds of lion.
