Some - but certainly not all - women in the fashion industry, such as actresses, models, designers, etc., are affected by eating disorders like anorexia because the current social standard is to be thin.
Although males comprise only about 1/10 of all people with anorexia, when they do have anorexia they are affected as severely as are women with the same illness. Males are affected by anorexia in the same way as women are: for example, they can have organ failure, extreme emaciation, and even death. However, males with anorexia may not be taken as seriously as women because anorexia is often viewed as a women's disease.
Anybody can buy a fashion Magazine. But usually, people who follow the trends, as in, teenage girls, and uptown women and men and people involved in the fashion industry, or indirectly affected by it.

If I were to think of the fashion retail industry, a missed opportunity would be clothes that are suitable to fit bigger women. Our fashion retail industry has failed bigger women miserably. Most South African women are not skinny including the European decent ones. Although there are clothing for this market they remain bland.

Every body system is affected by anorexia. The immune system is weakened, internal organs are subject to stress and / or failure, menstruation can stop in women, brain function slows down, the skin will become dry and flaky, hair and nails will become dry and brittle and colorless / discolored, etc., just to name a few.
anorexia most commonly affects teenage/young girls and women who are quiet, shy, well behaved and high acheivers at school. but lots of people can get anorexia...men, women, different ages.
bulimia / anorexia - eating disroders, women are more affected than men by a 9 : 1 ratio. chronic dieting - women tend to diet significantly mroe than men do. muscle dysmorphia - can affect both men and women equally.
Sadly, anorexia is an extremely common disease. 1 out of every 3 teenage girls, and grown women have suffered, or are suffering from anorexia.
In Western nations, women are viewed as more attractive or beautiful if they are thinner. There is also a strong correlation between media, successful women, fashion, and the need to be thin to succeed.
Partly because of the war they needed the supplies for the war and so the government had regulations. But the awsome fashion industry just created somthing new and cooler!!
