Most Nursing homes state that you have to be at least 18, however there are some which take on people when they are 16, to my knowledge there is no fixed rule on working age in a nursing home. The nursing home I work for states that someone has to be at least 18 for insurance purposes.

It's a little less about how old you have to be and more like how your health is. Most people can get along by themselves until they're pretty old, say around 70. If you can't take care of yourself, you go to a nursing home.

I recenly asked the same question to my grandmothers doctor. She said that there is no specific age that a person should be admitted. It depends on their ability to take care of them selfs and their health. the average age of people in nursing homes is 86.9.
