Any time desired. -- I switched in 6th grade.. Kinda cause of peer pressure in the locker rooms... When I switched I felt they were more cofortabke and if you show the waistband of your boxer briefs and show them off to hot girls they notice your a** more :)
When he decides to stop. There is no age limit to briefs. And there is no requirement to wear boxers.

There is no physical reason why a boy cannot wear briefs at any age, it is purely a matter of personal preference. No damage will occur to the genitals as a result of wearing briefs.
they will be 5th and 6th graders wearing all kinds briefs, boxer briefs and boxers. They should just wear what ever kind make them feel most comfortable.
Didnt like his Briefs
you can usually tell if their is the obvious waistband of boxers or briefs which can be seen when they bend over although if they are not wearing underwear you will instead see a butt crack when they bend over, and if wearing something like sweats or basketball shorts there can sometimes be an obvious penis line
The best place to buy boy's briefs is at Walmart. You should go with the size that fits correctly.
I would suggest briefs, bikini briefs, jockstrap, thong, or ever maybe
A 13-year-old boy should not wear a thong. Instead, he can try wearing boxer briefs or briefs with his skinny jeans to avoid bunching up. Look for styles that fit snugly and have a low profile to minimize visibility under the jeans.
When they feel like it.
Any type they like or feel comfortable with really ! Whether it is boxer-briefs, boxers or briefs. Some have just one type they wear and others may have each type.
I don't think you can?
If they are showing you can, obviously, quite easily tell. Although both briefs and boxer-briefs look fairly similar poking out of someone trousers - often, boxer-briefs have stitching on the butt which might help you tell the two apart. As for boxers, just look for lots of baggy fabric. If they are wearing translucent/tight bottoms then you can, most often, see what they're wearing through their trousers. If the trousers/shorts are translucent, most colours will show up fairly well but the darker the colour the better you'll be able to see. And if the trousers are tight you can usually see the seam lines/outline of the underwear - if there's a line on the legs they're wearing boxers, if there's a line on the butt legs they're in briefs and if there's both lines, chances are they're sporting boxer-briefs. Your best bet, however, is to just ask him. Assuming he's comfortable with it, he'll be your best source.
Technically, no. You should be wearing a mermantail.
