The little town of McDonough, New York claims the "World's Largest (at 115'), Living (it is still growing), Longest Lit (annually since electricity came to town in 1927) Christmas Tree"! In 2009 it was re-strung with nearly 3000 new LED bulbs as a near record crowd of about 250 spectators attended the rededication ceremony. Wilmington, NC

The World's Largest Living Christmas Tree is in Wilmington NC. The tree is a massive oak tree covered with spanish moss, and is believed to be more than 400 years old. It was first lit in 1928 with over 500 multicolored lights, and is now covered with 5,250 colored bulbs.

StarNews (MyReporter.com) reports that "The tree is a live oak that stood more than 70 or 75 feet high (or maybe 95 feet, depending on your source) and more than 110 feet wide when it was first selected. Eighty years of ice storms have taken their toll, though, and its dimensions are now closer to about 50 feet by 110 feet."
