Brainstorm names for the beast in Lord of the Flies?
The beast has several names already in the book Lord of the Flies. It is initially referred to as a snake-thing or beastie. Later during his internalised conversation the beast is named as the Lord of the Flies. Finally the real nature of the beast is revealed as the darkness in the hearts of men.
It is the pig's head cut off by jack, transformed from a loving pig to a creepy horror. The flies were buzzing around the head, making the pigs head the Lord of the Flies. In other interpretations, Jack is considered to be the Lord of the Flies. The beast is also thought to be the Lord of the Flies.
The Lord of the Flies symbolizes the beast inside all of us. Simon might have been called a loony but he was the only one who found out who knew that the beast wasn't a real breathing creature but the beast inside all of us (lord of the flies). When Simon had the talk with the pig's head it might have been confusing but the pig wasn't talking it was his imagination.
The book "Lord of the Flies" is largely about how the conflicts on the island are only intensified by the controversy over whether or not the "beast" exists. The specific "Lord of the Flies" is the sow's (pig's) head which has been impaled by a stick that was stuck into the ground. The blood has attracted flies to the severed head.
