it's usually the brake light switch. There is a recall on some of them. Call VW and c if your car is one of the cars, they will fix it for free. If u do need to buy it. it takes 5 minutes to change and it's $4.
good luck

What about it? You need to ask a question.
You have to get a new brake light switch!
what are positioning lights on vw golf mk4
We need more information to answer this question.
The Mk4 Golf typically has two reversing lights, one on each side of the rear of the vehicle. These lights illuminate when the car is put into reverse, providing visibility to the driver and alerting others that the vehicle is backing up.
You can reset the brake warning lights, on your VW Jetta, by backing up 20 feet and using the brakes. The automobile will sense the new pads and the warning light will go off.
If the speedometer lights on your Golf MK4 are not working, it could be due to a blown fuse, a faulty bulb, or an issue with the instrument cluster itself. First, check the fuse box for any blown fuses related to the dashboard lights. If the fuses are fine, inspect the bulbs in the speedometer for any damage or burnout. If the problem persists, there may be a wiring issue or a malfunction within the instrument cluster that may require professional diagnosis.
yea
you have been cooking with too much shake and brake! lol. Actually, your rotors are likely warped.
Bora have 2.8 VR6,and Golf MK4 have 3.2.So Golf maybe will win.
