The segregation of children into black and white schools. Louise Brown's parents wanted to enroll her in an all white school , but she was denied admission because she was African American. Her parents sued the school district. Thourgood Marshal was the lawyer for the family. He argued that the policy of "separate but equal" was discrimination and not equal at all. That when people are kept separate that there is no equality due to the fact that they are apart. This won the case, but when Louise started school people stood outside the school as she entered yelling at her. The school put her in a classroom alone with a teacher and didn't allow her to have recess with other students. She was the first to go through this ordeal, but not the last.
