It is not a good idea to take an over the counter pain medicine with a prescription pain medicine. The best way would be to ask the Doctor Who gave you the tramadol prescription whether you can take something over the counter. The prescription drug is stronger than the over the counter drug - you should not need any extra pain relief on top of a prescription.

Yes, you can take Excedrin Migraine (or regular Excedrin - same ingredients) with tramadol (Ultram)

Excedrin Migraine contains acetaminophen, aspirin, and caffeine.

Tramadol is a low level narcotic medication.

However, if you are taking Ultracet - which is tramadol with acetaminophen, you need to be very careful with how much acetaminophen you're ingesting. (4000mg max per 24hrs)

Just to be clear, there is no "Tylenol Migraine," nor has there ever been a Tylenol marketed just toward headaches, apart from the head pain caused by sinus issues during colds and Allergies.

HOWEVER, Excedrin Migraine contains acetaminophen, and acetaminophen is the generic name for Tylenol.

Excedrin Migraine (and any store such as CVS or Walgreens which will put out their own copy-cat of Excedrin Migraine) contains three medications:

Acetaminophen (generic Tylenol)

Aspirin (a non-steroidal-anti-inflammatory)

Caffeine

Yes, Excedrin Migraine (or any generic containing these three medications) can be taken with plain tramadol (brand name: Ultram).

However, sometimes tramadol is paired with acetaminophen (brand name: Ultracet, but if they give you the generic combination, the label may read "tramadol HCl/APAP")

If you are prescribed Ultracet, you need to be extremely careful about how much acetaminophen you are ingesting. The dose in any 6 hour period should not exceed 1000mg, and the maximum dose in a 24 hour period is 4,000mg. Exceeding 4,000mg of acetaminophen can cause liver damage, liver failure.
