Yes it is. You must use some caution though, as using pain killers in combination with topical numbers like lidocaine, tetracaine, novocaine, will make you feel so much better that you may think that the original injury has healed, and thereby go out and start doing things you really shouldn't be doing yet. For example, chopping wood, or heavy lifting, jogging, get the idea? If you start doing these kinds of activities before you have truly healed, there's a good chance you could make things worse, much worse in some cases. Stitches can be ripped without notice, many different things can happen. I recomand consulting directly with your doctor before any activity changes, though in general, use of these in combination is safe.
