Yes it is. You must use some caution though, as using pain killers in combination with topical numbers like lidocaine, tetracaine, novocaine, will make you feel so much better that you may think that the original injury has healed, and thereby go out and start doing things you really shouldn't be doing yet. I recomand consulting directly with your doctor before any activity changes, though in general, use of these in combination is safe.
