Providing that the problems of traveling to Mars could be solved, would it be possible for man to live there? Mars does have an atmosphere, which provides some protection from solar and cosmic radiation, although it is much thinner than Earth's (about 0.7% of Earth's atmosphere). It seems there is water on Mars too, following recent observations by NASA's exploration robots. And a Martian day is very similar to Earths, (24 hours and 39 minutes), although a year is equivalent to about 1.88 Earth years.

However, conditions on the surface of Mars are much harsher than what we are used to on Earth. It is much colder for a start, with a mean surface temperature of -63°C, resulting in no un-frozen bodies of water. The atmospheric pressure on Mars is too low for humans to survive without pressure suits and Mars has no magnetosphere to deflect solar winds, (a stream of charged particles, i.e. a plasma, which are ejected from the upper atmosphere of the sun). And the Martian atmosphere consists mainly (95%) of carbon dioxide. An unprotected human would lose consciousness in about 20 seconds and would not survive more than a minute or so on the surface of Mars.

Unless humans are able to build bio type domes that can withstand every kind of environmental disaster that Mars and the galaxy can throw at it such as Meteorite's, then this won't happen any time soon.

Right now... No, because it of the gases in the air.

** Hope that helped! :-)

No.

First, the extreme radiation from the sun which our own magnetic field shields us from will kill everything living on Mars due to it's own non-existant magnetic field. We would have to create a planet size magnetic field.

Then we would have to protect ourselves from other objects which our atmosphere protects us from.

Why can earth support life and mars cannot?

Mars unlike earth is to cold has a little bit of water and oxygen. it cant support human life- but there may be other creatures out there there on planet Mars that it can support . but if humans were there, we would die.

What inner planet besides Earth may have been most able to support life and why?

Mars, Because they found water like flow patterns like found on Earth, Water is an essential ingredient for life.

How can mars teach us more about Earth?

Mars can teach us alot about the earth. Mars is a very pretty planet and Mars is very red but like the moon but very diffrent but some like the earth but with out life on it but very rocky and has craders in it but nothing like the earth but not as we know it.

All life is on Earth, none on Mars.

Are they plants on Mars?

No, they not plants on Mars...conditions are not suitable to support life. An underdeveloped atmosphere and no water to support life.

Does mars have a chance of life on the planet?

No Mars doesn't have a chance of life because it is a dry and hot planet just like our earth in fact they say that Mars is a twin to our earth so Mars can't have a chance of life in that dry planet. It is just a dry planet nothing else. And this is the truth that there is no chance of life in Mars.

What can you do on Mars that you can't do on earth?

no life on mars

Did there used to be life on Mars?

It is unknown. What has been proven though is that Mars used to have an atmosphere similar like earth (this is necessary to support life) also it is possible that mars has had liquid water before (pressure is needed to keep it in liquid form, and pressure comes from atmospheres), which is also necessary for life, as far as we know. (dried up riverbeds and channels are found on mars surface). in addition to the possible past liquid water, it is also a theory that mars has water still, wether in gas or solid form underneath the surface. A possible fossilized rock has been found as well. the rock has not been proven to be an actual fossil, but many people think it is fossilized bacteria, or in other words, life. If it IS bacteria, it is does not necessarily prove that it came from mars though. It could have come from earth due to the theory that mars and earth collided in early years, or come from earth from an impact big enough to send rock into space, then mars pulled it with its gravity. it is possible that it has come from another planet/object as well. Life on Mars is a big mystery. Mars is the planet most like earth, and the planet most likely to be able to support life as well, but it is still unproven that there has been life on mars, or even if there IS life on mars.

Can humans live in Mars?

With life support, perhaps. Mars is much colder than Earth, has much less atmospheric pressure, and very little oxygen.
