At the time of writing, there is no current way to trade or battle with previous generations in Pokemon X or Y. However, in December, Nintendo will be releasing a paid service called Pokemon Bank which will act as Pokemon X and Y's way of trading from previous generations (although this is only limited to Black, White, Black 2 and White 2). It does not appear that there will be any services that will allow you to battle with previous versions, however.

Pokemon X can trade with Pokemon Y. However, any game previous to Pokemon X and Y cannot.
Therefore, if you want to send your Pokemon to X, you will have to download the Pokemon Bank for the 3DS and purchase a subscription fee. Then, trade/migrate the Pokemon to Pokemon Black, White, Black 2, White 2 and then transfer it to the bank. After that, you can then obtain the Pokemon in X.
