It has to. I'm on them now for about the 7th time and my body hurts every single time. I'd like to add that I have had local steroid injections (back epidurals) with no problems. Oral prednisone, however, always leaves me feeling like I've had a very rough workout that hampers just about everything in my life, at the time.
