Water can dissolve organic compounds that are capable of hydrogen bonding. This would be organic compounds that contain a hydroxy group or amines. Remember that amines will not form hydrogen bonds in aromatic groups and their solubility in water decreases with increase in carbon atoms.

Do organic or inorganic compounds comprise more of the body?

The body is made mostly of organic compounds. The only abundant inorganic compound is water.

Do organic compounds dissolve in water?

As a rule, polar compounds dissolve in water. Most of the organic compounds are non polar, so they do not dissolve in water. polar organic compounds like ethyl alcohol, suger. Acetic acid etc dissolve in water, because they are polar in nature.

What is the most important inorganic compound found in the body?

Water.is water the only living oranisms found in inorganic compounds

What inorganic compounds are in fettuccine Alfredo?

This dish contain only traces of inorganic compounds, without any significance.

Why ozone will not dissolve in water?

Ozone is a non-polar covalent molecule. As water dissolves only polar compounds.

do organic compounds include water calcium oxygen potassium or glycerol?

only glycerol is an organic compound. Rest are inorganic.

What do organic compounds include water calcium oxygen potassium or glycerol?

only glycerol is an organic compound. Rest are inorganic.

What contains only inorganic compounds?

Anything that is not or was not a living thing.

What elements are organic and inorganic?

None. Only compounds are organic.

Is water an ionic compound that can dissolve only ions?

No. Water is a largely covalent compound that spontaneously ionizes only to give concentrations of 10-7 molar for each of hydrogen and hydroxide ions. However water also has a high dielectric constant and for that reason can dissolve many ionic compounds. Water can also dissolve sufficiently polar organic compounds, such as sugar, with little or no trace of ionic character.

Does ionic compounds dissolve in organic solvent?

No they don't. They only dissolve in water. For example, sodium chloride is not soluble in hexane. Therefore we can separate the two by filtration :)

What properties does water have as a result of being a Polar molecule?

Water being polar have the ability to dissolve other polar compounds(like dissolves like). Most polar compounds dissolve only in water. Since water is a polar compound, its H atom forms weak hydrogen bonds with other more electronegative atoms and this is the cause of dissolution of many compounds in water.
