Yes. Its great for a guinea pig to have a wooden hutch because they can gnaw on the wood to stop their teeth from overgrowing and it is a nice cosy house for them to sleep in and to keep warm. Make sure your guinea pigs have exercise outside of their hutch though. You could buy or build a run with a lid for them on grass so they can run, play and eat at the same time!

Nope. The bunny will most likely kick the guinea pig, or nip your guinea pig. You might have seen rabbit guinea pig inter species relationship. But please do not risk any of your animals getting hurt. You can maybe introduce the bunny to the guinea pig, but don't house them together. Bunnies have a different diet then guinea pigs. And if you house a bunny and a guinea pig together, the cage would have to be HUGE! One guinea pig should be housed in a big cage, a bunny needs an even bigger cage! So put the two cage sizes together, that's one heck of a cage. Either way, what I am trying to say, is there is no good reason to house a guinea pig and a bunny. Sure, the bunny will keep the guinea pig company, but it's best to keep the bunny outside not inside the cage. Hope this helped!

It is not recommended. Rabbits have powerful hind legs and can easily injure a guinea pig. Even if the rabbits are tame, accidents can still happen. Another factor is that both animals have different diet requirements (Guinea pigs need more Vitamin C, etc.).

you could but it wouldn't be reccomended. they are not supposed to be in the same cage together for several reasons including breeding, and fighting.

Different types of disinfectant you would use to clean out a guinea pig hutch?

If you want a hutch cleaner that won't be harmful to your guinea pig, you are best off visiting a pet store. They have specific cleaners that you can use that will not affect your guinea pig. It wont be too hard to choose because there are only a few different types and they all do the same thing... the only difference is the price tag.

What is the best type of wood for building a guinea pig hutch?

You shouldn't build your guinea pig a hutch made out of wood , they will pee on it and it will soak in. Which will eventually make the wood go rotten and could possible give them bladder and eye infections. You can make it out of wood though if you put a layer of tough plastic over the wood that the guinea pigs would not be able to chew through, so then it wouldn't really matter what type of wood you would use.

What do you need to give a guinea pig a shower?

I you wish to give your guinea pig a bath or shower you, will need the following items. A large jug filled with lukewarm water, a basin/bucket/bath tub, a towel, and some shampoo/conditioner/soap. OPTIONAL: you could have some treats for your guinea pig :P To bathe your guinea pig, place him in the bath and pour the water over him. massage in the shampoo if you are using any. Wash the shampoo out using more water. Repeat the process if you want to use conditioner. Give your guinea pig rewards throughout the process. When your guinea pig is clean, take him out of the bath and dry him throughly with a towel. Do not use a hair dryer, as this will scare your guinea pig. Allow him to air dry in his hutch. I hope this was helpful! :)

Can you disinfect a rabbit hutch with javex?

It is best to go to a pet shop and get a rabbit/animal friendly disinfectant, but you could also use javex, or most other disinfectants but you have to wait until the hutch is COMPLETELY dry until you put the rabbit back in. You can also clean a rabbit hutch with white vinegar. You can sprinkle a bit of baking soda in the places where is still has an unpleasant odor.

Is cedar bad for guinea pigs?

Woods that are bad for guinea pigs are Pine wood and Ceder wood. Here are some of the things to avoid if you are building your own hutch or guinea pig cage:Chicken wire (guinea pig will chew it and cause mouth problems)ChemicalsTreated wood (they contain chemicals)Painted metalSweet smelling chippings. These have chemicals inside them that give the nice smell. They are poisonous to the guinea pig.** Note: Please do not use wire flooring of any kind as the base of your cage. I recommend you use corflute as the base of you cage. It is a cheap and easy to use waterproof plastic. If you are going to build your own guinea pig hutch or cage then you should use the following tips:If you must use wire cage then use welded wire instead of chicken wire. It is safer for the guinea pig and won't cause as many problems.Use wood chippings for the beddingUse hay or straw for the bedding also. These things will give the guinea pig something soft and comfortable to lie on.Another good idea for bedding is aspen. This is a hardwood, so it is safe for guinea pigs. You can use any wooden chippings that are natural and biodegradable. Keep things as natural as possible. You can also use recycled paper if you want. This is very absorbent.Soil is another alternative if you have a garden and recycle or compost waste. This is inexpensive and works great.I hope this helpsFor more information on guinea pig care go to http://www.pet-guinea-pig-care.com/
