Yes they CAN eat applesauce after the age of 5-6 weeks, once their eyes are open. There is a difference of opinion as to whether any type of "mushy" food should be fed, or to just start the babies off with small pieces of fruits/veggies. They still will need milk, but soft foods are a good start. Just be sure they are still getting plenty of milk, and once they've stopped bottle feeding make sure to supply a full-spectrum light source or real outdoor sunlight to prevent Metabolic Bone Disease (Vit D deficiency). As with any other animal be sure to feed a varied diet, or stick with commercially prepared foods.
