A1: better use gas pycnometer analyzer (like G-DenPyc 2900) to test density, it is quick and accurate.

A2: Density is weight divided by volume. Weight you can get from a scale, and the volume of an irregularly shaped object (assuming that your bar of soap is not exactly rectangular in shape) can be determined by immersing it in water inside a graduated cylinder, and you then observe how much water is displaced (reading off the lines on the graduated cylinder). Since soap is usually lighter than water, you will have to push it under the water, but the measurement can still be done.
