yes not a good idea to allow a dog to sleep or be left unattended whilst wearing certain types of dog collars such as slip collars or spiked dog collars. ---- Most common material or leather collars should be fine. Most dogs live their life wearing a collar, only removed for bathing, or for some breeds, grooming. It's much the same for a human wearing a wristwatch.

Collars on casual shirts serve both functional and aesthetic purposes. Functionally, collars help to provide structure and support to the neck area. Aesthetically, collars add a touch of sophistication and style to the overall look of the shirt. They also allow for the option of wearing a tie or bowtie, if desired.
Greyhounds (and other sighthounds) have very long, slender necks, so wearing a thin collar has more of a chance to damage the skin or cause neck injuries. Wider collars have more surface area, which reduces the chance of harming the dog.
Anti barking collars work by emitting a frequency that is disturbing to the dog that corrects their actions. These devices are attuned to the dog that is wearing the collar, so another dog's barking won't affect the dog wearing the device.
It might mean that the collar is too tight. A collar should allow you to place two fingers inside of it, while the dog is wearing it. It's also possible you're using the wrong type of collar. Rolled leather collars are durable and less likely to cause hair loss or parting. Agree with above but also fleece dog collars provide the same benefits as rolled leather dog collars, especially if they have no external adjusters. Fleece dog collars additionally are great for dogs who suffer irritation with other types of collar.

Button down collared shirts are more casual than point collars. If you're wearing a suit, I'd advise against it. If you're dressed casually, wearing, say, a sport coat or blazer and less formal slacks like khakis, jeans, or corduroys, then it's acceptable in a casual, weekender way.

Martingale collars can be suitable for many dog breeds, but their appropriateness depends on the individual dog's size, behavior, and training needs. Martingale collars are often recommended for dogs with narrow heads, such as Greyhounds and Whippets, as they help prevent the dog from slipping out of the collar. However, they can be used for a variety of breeds. Martingale collars are designed to provide more control without choking the dog. They consist of a loop of material with a smaller loop (the control loop) that tightens when the dog pulls. When properly fitted and used correctly, martingale collars can be effective tools for training and walking. It's important to choose the right size for your dog and adjust the collar properly to ensure a comfortable and secure fit. It's also crucial to supervise your dog while wearing any collar, including a martingale, to prevent accidents or injuries. If you're uncertain about whether a martingale collar is suitable for your dog, consult with a professional dog trainer or your veterinarian. They can provide guidance based on your dog's specific needs and behavior. Additionally, individual preferences may vary, so observing how your dog responds to different types of collars can help you make an informed decision.
It's simply called a clerical collar or Roman collar..Catholic AnswerPriests do not wear "cardboard collars", I assume that you are referring to the white collar that you see under their black collar. Originially (and up until recently, I don't know if you can still get them) this was a white linen collar exactly like the ones that men used to wear when collars were detachable. They were fastened on with collar buttons, the only difference was that the clerical collars were worn backwards with the opening in the back. In days gone by, the clergy would just wear this white collar put on backwards above a black shirt - the "tab" that you commonly see came into existence because when a priest wore a cassock, it had a standup black collar with a small opening in the front which showed about an inch or so of the white collar. That look became popular right before Vatican Council II, and now clerical shirts are even made with the black stand-up part to leave only an inch or so of the white collar showing. The linen was starched heavily, just as regular men's collars were. Nowadays, most priests wear plastic collars as they stand up and don't have to be ironed and starched as the old ones did. (Not that old, I remember wearing the starched linen collars in the seminary, and I'm not sixty yet!)
