Yes you can but you need to know a few details before you can do this. First of all be very careful, this might help you but in the long run it might back fire and it might put you in trouble. With the question you have, all you need is to have a small tape recorder even your cell phone can do the job. There's a lot gadget out there you can buy, but always make sure that the person you will buy it from will explain to you how to use it...

In the US It depends on what state you live in. Different states have different laws regarding the recording of conversations. In California, you are in violation of state law if you do inform the other party AND get their consent to record the conversation.

In some states, only one party has to be aware of the recording.

Added; Above is a true statement BUT obviously does NOT apply to government agencies or law enforcement who are operating with a warrant.

No, in any court it would likely be ruled inadmissible.

HOWEVER - if you supplied the recording to law enforcement and they were able to develop a lead in an investigation from the information that you recorded, the results of the investigation MIGHT be admissible.

Federal law allows recording of phone calls and other electronic communications with the consent of at least one party to the call. A majority of the states and territories have adopted wiretapping statutes based on the federal law, although most also have extended the law to cover in-person conversations. Thirty-eight states and the District of Columbia permit individuals to record conversations to which they are a party without informing the other parties that they are doing so. These laws are referred to as "one-party consent" statutes, and as long as you are a party to the conversation, it is legal for you to record it. Electronic recording laws, including the issues of taping family members' calls and using a tape recording as evidence in a lawsuit or prosecution, should be looked up, for your state, before proceeding. Just put 'Electronic Recording Laws, (your state)' Sites will pop up for that search. Try to click on any site who's web address ends in .org. Or, at least perhaps a findlaw site to be sure you are getting the correct information.

Can you record a conversation between you and another employee in the State of Colorado?

There are many factors involved. Is the conversation deemed private or public? Most conversations recorded cannot be used in a court of law. Generally you can record conversatins in 38 states that have a "one party" consent statute. This means that you can record your conversation with another person without their knowledge. You may not record a conversation between two other people. Twelve states require, under most circumstances, the consent of all parties to a conversation. Those jurisdictions are California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Washington.

Do stockbrokers record voice conversations?

I have heard of it, but, I am not sure. You can certainly contact a stock broker and they would answer it. It seems that most of them do. Note that in the US it is illegal to tape a conversation without letting the other party know. Having said that, if you had a conversation with someone and they taped your conversation without your knowledge, then they can't use that as evidence in court.
