It is not going to invalidate the ticket. The make and model is not critical to the nature of the violation.
Parking ticket fines never go away! Sometimes they can grow with interest and at worst your license may eventually be suspended. If they just eventually went away, no one would pay them. If you have gotten the ticket, there is very little you can do about it. Chances of getting relieved of the cost of the ticket is very low unless someone can prove that the meter was wrong.
Your mum, Steve.
Doesn't matter who was driving. The vehicle was in the wrong place and the owner is responsible.
A technicality in the ticket is not going to be a reason for the person to claim that the ticket is invalid and disregard it. You still have to follow up.
You probably can't get out of the one that you have now especially if you were wrong. But I can tell you how to not get one in the future but I think you know the answer to that. Don't park illegally.
