Yes, many studies show that people are conscious to their suroundings for at least a couple hours after they are dead. Also according to many religions, this is correct. (This includes Christianity)
It's also scientifically proven that hearing is the last of the 5 senses to 'go' when a person is in the throes of death.
So, if a person is dying, talking to them does work, even if they can't talk back.

∙ 12y agoNo. The process of hearing is the brain differentiating different vibrations. The process of death is the brains inability to produce oxygen and thus, inability to function. The two simply cannot coexist.

Yes, people dying can hear us as long as they are still alive but once they are dead then there is no Spirit, no Soul, no life energy then they cannot hear because the entire biological existence comes to an end. Therefore to believe that even a dead person can listen to us is a fairy tale, neither religion nor science agrees to it. But yes, a person who is alive in a coma, who may be dying but is still alive can definitely sense us, hear us.
