Take your dog to the vet! Would you just put a splint on your broken leg? I doubt it! The bone has to be set before a cast or splint is put on. Don't let your dog hobble around in pain because you don't want to spend the money at a vets. If you are truly low on funds some Animal Shelters will help out. Also, if you take your dog into a good vet you can sometimes make installments on the cost of the bill or work the bill off by cleaning cages, etc.
Edit: A splint on certain type of fractures is indeed effective. The factors to take into consideration are the age of the dog, degree and difficulty to which it has fractured, and your own dog's disposition.
If a dog is less than 6 months old, the bones heal quite rapidly. A transverse fracture can be splinted, if you run into money problems. Above all, if you ever have orthopedic procedures performed, CAGE REST your animal. They do not know to be still.
Yes, but it'll do it only as effectively as a human's leg would. This means it'll be a long, painful process that may have serious consequences all through the rest of the dog's life,, including possible eventual loss of the leg. Just as I'd tell you that you need to see a doctor about your own broken leg, I advise you to get your dog to a vet and get the dog's leg treated. If it's a money thing, talk to the vet about it and set up some kind of payment plan.
a dog can maybe walk with a broken leg, or at least limp!
my dog broke her leg and she had her bandaged but she managed to carry on, so if you have a lab then yes or any other bigger dogs then yes!
but anything smaller no!
hope this has helped!
Dogs have the same power to heal that humans do, and if a dog's broken leg is splinted, the bone will eventually heal.
no unless your mom or dad works at a vet.
You need to take it to your vet, as it will NOT heal on it's own
No. Ligaments do not heal on their own if broken.
It Depends On What Is Wrong With Your Guinea Pig
Just wait it out for a few weeks. It should heal on its own, even if it's broken. There isn't much else you can do other than put it to sleep.
A dog will not eat its own leg. Dogs will sometimes lick or gnaw at their legs if they are itchy, wounded, or infected.
yes affter 6 weeks
It depends on the bone that is broken, how it is broken and how old the horse is. Tail bones (coccyx and caudal vertebrae) will generally be left to heal on their own without the need to set or cast the injury; leg bones will generally not heal even if a cast is placed over the break. Also, a smooth break tends to heal worse than a jagged break, because all the cracks and crevices in a jagged break help hold the pieces together. Finally, a young horse (colt, filly, yearling) will typically heal from broken bones better than a mature horse (mare, stallion, gelding) due to the increased weight placed on the skeleton.
Your best option is a vet visit to find out how much damage is done to the leg and to the bone. Many bones can be set, however, some can not. They will usually heal crudely on their own. This creates pain, stress and the chance for infection. All of these things can determine the future health of your monitor.
No because it does not have a bone in its tail because that is how it is.
It will probably heal on its own, but 'imperfectly.' If bones didn't heal by themselves, non-domestic animals would have much more frequent deaths.
Chickens heal very well, so it will quite possibly heal on its own. I'd put a little Neosporin or triple antibiotic ointment on the wound, though.
If it is a minor wound it will heal on its own. But if it is something that looks serious or to be concerned over you should take the cat to the vet a.s.a.p.
