In some vehicles, yes.
Your speed sensor is faulty replace it...
A faulty knock sensor can certainly cause misfiring and engine pinging.
The trans is electronically shifted so the sensor being bad is a likely cause.
It can cause it to only have second and reverse gears.
Typical causes would be: -faulty throttle position sensor -faulty accelerator position sensor (if drive-by-wire) -faulty throttle body (if drive-by-wire) -restricted exhaust catalyst or other exhaust restriction -restricted fuel filter -poor fuel quality -floor mat interfering with accelerator pedal operation -overdue for tune-up (gasoline engine only)-ignition timing fault -knock sensor inoperative -false low MAF sensor reading -false MAP sensor reading -DPFE sensor or hoses bad (Ford only) -clogged air filter
A "speed" sensor can affect the shifting of the trans.A "speed" sensor can affect the shifting of the trans.
I just talked with a man today about my jeep liberty and i asked him why did the fan come on and why it makes the noise of changing gears and he said that if the gears don't change it just keeps running that means a sensor is out or malfuntioned on it hope this helps but i wasn't in there for that. I was there for a wheel sensor out again.
The most common cause for a transmission not to change gears, is low transmission fluid. Check the transmission fluid and fill to the full line.
A worn transmission gear can cause a Chevy Impala to whine when the gears change. A bad fan belt can also cause this.
A faulty slave cylinder will not cause your clutch to slip. The slave cylinder is made up of a housing and a rod. The rod pushes the throwout lever against the throwout bearing, that push the teeth on the clutch housing causing the clutch to disengage and you are allowed to shift the gears. When a slave cylinder fails it makes it difficult for you to shift gears. When it completely fails you will not be able to change gears at all for the most part. I sincerely hope this helps you. www.subarushirt.com The only exception would be if the slave cylinder managed to leak fluid onto the clutch disc.
if it is in fact the starter, it is probably engaging the flywheel. starter may be faulty.
Faulty EGR Sensor....I Picked one up on E-Bay for $25 and Installed myself. It's pretty easy
