Short answer is yes. Long answer is only muzzle loader during firearm. There are some stipulations as to what type as well. Check with ATF. The rules/laws may have changed. Better to check then to serve 5 years for a simple mistake. Bow hunting how ever is completely legal all season long.

It is a federal crime for a convicted felon to possess a firearm. I am not sure if you can bowhunt. Hunting with or possession of a bow or crossbow is a matter of specific state laws. Check the laws specific to the state in which you reside or intend to hunt.
This is what I was told by a federal game warden it is not illegal for a felon to hunt with a black powder gun or a standard bow. A crossbow is illegal. A crossbow, shotgun, rifle, or any handgun it is illegal for a felon to possess.
As a nebraska resident I called game and parks. The interpretaion of nebraska law regarding this varies from county attorney to county attorney. Call the county attorney of residence first to see if you can own one and then the county you are going to hunt in. For example in ottoe county it is permissable to own and hunt with a bow.
A cross bow may not be allowed by the state for anyone. You are probably on safer ground with a bow and arrow. Check in with the caseworker before getting involved in either.
being a former federal fire arms license holder i can say that in the state of Georgia you cannot hunt with any firearm you can hunt with a bow or a crossbow and this is accectipable in most other states
