Unsure about TN law, but FEDERAL Law makes it a felony. USC Title 18 specifically classifies black powder arms as firearms which could result in up to 15 years in federal prison.

Hence the only muzzleloaders legal to be owned by a felon would be percussion cap, flintlock, etc.Added: IF (repeat) IF Tennessee law allows this, their right to possess it exists only while they are within that state. Ther posession of it outside of Tennessee is unlawful (under FEDERAL law) unless the weapon is an antique and was manufactured prior to 1868, or an exact replica of such a weapon.
