they hibernate if you leave em in the cold too long. if that's the case, you have to put em somewhere warm and give em alot of food. hibernation might look like a coma, or even death, because they breathe only every few minutes and don't move. lots of hamsters have been mistakenly thrown out because of this. i don't know how long they hibernate, but its probably at least a few days.
