A change agent, as accepted by most business and management subject matter experts, is someone that embraces an idea put forth by superiors, taking it through the ranks until it becomes the way things are done. However, from the employee's perspective, it does not have to be someone that is brought in specifically for this purpose. It must be somoen that is representative of the user population; in other words they look like me, they act like me, and they think like me. They have the same problems, concerns and cares that I do. This person understands the reasoning behind the change. They see htings as they are currently and identify with the need to embrace the change. They champion the cause and help to communicate the possibilities to come with the change. Using this much broader definition, any employee regardless of responsibility level, can be a change agent.
