It would be difficult to have a parasitic flatworm as a pet as you would also have to have a host for it to survive.

It might be possible to have a free living flatworm as a pet. Feeding them would be difficult. Polyclads have the ability to self-destruct under stress, so, if disturbed and taken from their natural habitat, they would probably die.

I'M NOT AN EXPERT ON WORMS, BUT...... I am guessing yes. As far as I know, worms CAN be pet's as long as they are treated well. Here are some good rules: 1) Keep in an area full of moist dirt. 2) They like ripped up grass, organic materials (fruit, vegetables), don't feed them animal protein, fats, or processed sugars, as this will draw pests to where you are keeping them. 3) The group of worms will live as long as you feed them and keep them from predators. The ones that will die will be replaced by offspring. 4) Don't drown them. A moist environment is okay. If it reeks, it is probably too wet. 5) DON'T cut them in half. Sometimes you hit an essential organ, and will kill them. However since they are worms, and not people, you may kill as many of them as you want for food or any reason you feel like. Try not to get emotionally attached because no matter how much you love them, they love eating, pooping, and having sex with other worms. I have caught my pet worms eating and pooping at the same time. I had no emotional response to the worms, complying with worm psychology. Some disadvantages to pet worms: If you take them outside to play, they run away and disappear. This, combined with the main traits of the worm lifestyle, may result in an infestation of worms. They might go around eating your neighbor's dirt and defecating in it. If there are enough of them and sufficient resources to feed them, they may mate in public. When dogs do this, people generally laugh at it or are disgusted by it . When worms do it, humans generally don't notice. Furthermore, there may be an increase in the local bird population following the release of worms. Finally, they don't seem capable of feeling connected to humans. Either that, or their sensitivity to light is much stronger than their ability to feel mammalian emotional bonds.

How To Take Care of your Hookworm1. Make sure you find live worms that are NOT frozen. (like ice-cube-frozen)
