In general, it is not a good idea to feed any cured meat to your dog because of the high salt and nitrate content of bacon, ham, etc. Also, your own dog and its own individual health status can make a very big difference to the answer to this question.
However, if you have a normal, healthy dog a little bacon should not harm it, although bacon should never be fed in large amounts to any animal.
If your dog has any health issues, in particular if he has anything wrong with his kidneys, you should not feed him bacon. Having said that, you might find that your kidney-impaired dog craves salt bacon and ham and seems almost to need it.
If in any doubt at all about any aspect of your pet's healthcare you should always consult your own vet because they will be able to monitor the situation and give you best advise.

∙ 15y agoprobally, cus most people dont realize when they cook bacon they put salt on it, when there is alot of sodium already in the bacon, or the dog could be a diabetic...but its probally just his reaction to all the salt

∙ 9y agoWhat? Bacon?! Say it isn't so! It's absolutely tragic that we can't share one of the greatest foods out there with our canine buddies. We'll need to remember this the next time we want to feed our dogs some breakfast bacon under the table. Well, more bacon for us then. Sorry, buddy.

∙ 13y agoMost dogs are ok with a small bite of bacon now and again, but don't feed too much or too often because it is fatty and salty, and dogs have trouble digesting too much fat and/or salt.
