∙ 14y agoyes, in fact chinchillas are becoming very popular pets now a days. If your thinking about getting one, you need to do lots of research because they do have 'special needs' you cant just go out and buy one without knowing them.

∙ 14y agoThe price of the chinchilla itself will vary on the color.. you should get a decent size cage and that will cost about $200. then you need all kinds of safe accessories for the cage and how much you spend depends on you, but you can spend another $100..
but once you get those items, you won't be spending that again.
quality food is actually cheaper than garbage food, and it's not that much, niether is hay.
vet bills can be very expensive. i have four and this year i had a problem run through my chin room and i spent 1000. but for three years i didn't spend antyhing in vet bills.. so its hard to say, but have a savings aside in case you need to go to the vet.
