Dogs can eat ALL pork products as long as they are cooked properly. If the port is not fully cooked, the dog could get trichinosis.

Apparently, a little bit of ham for a treat is OK, but there is too much fat and salt in the cured meat for the dog to make a meal of it.

Of course. It will be just fine as long as you have gotten it from a decent supplier (butchers, supermarket, other street shop). A dog will have a go at, most likely, any bone you put in front of it. Avoid fish bones though.
