Last night I had a seizure. I had drank a bit too much alcohol (although not rediculous amounts) I'm speaking of around 4 pints of lager and a vodka. I do not have epilepsy. I had stopped drinking at around 1:00 am and went to bed feeling intoxicated but not ill, dizzy or incapable. I woke up in the middle of the night needing a drink of water. Went to get one and after tasting the water my seizure began. I bit through my lip completely during it and woke up with vague memories even though I was conscious (but in an altered state of mind) during the seizure. This seizure probably was not caused by alcohol alone, but also malnutrition and stress. I had not eaten anything all day and I am under a lot of pressure at work and home.

Not in general, as the majority of people who drink never have seizures. Seizures are caused by an increased amount of electrical activity in the brain. Alcohol isn't something that would cause that. Many people with epilepsy do not drink alcohol.

Heavy use of alcohol is more likely to cause unconsciousness, although a person with a history of seizures may find them triggered by drinking. Sudden cessation of drinking by a person addicted to alcohol or benzodiazepines can, and often does, cause seizures and other medical problems that can be life-threatening.

Each individual case is different and there are a lot of factors that can cause seizure. Alcohol can occasionally cause seizures, but generally it is not a factor. While it is not always advisable for people who have epilepsy to drink alcohol, a lot of people with epilepsy do drink and it does not cause them to have seizures. It is of course never advisable for someone with epilepsy, or indeed anyone, to drink excessive amounts of alcohol.

No, alcohol poisoning cannot cause a seizure. Alcohol is a GABA agonist and NMDA antagonist, which are both anticonvulsant mechanisms of action. If someone is experiencing a seizure from apparent alcohol poisoning, then it’s almost definitely ethyl (drinking) alcohol contaminated with methanol.
