Fiddler crabs come from the mangroves where there may be a regular fresh water flush so they may survive for a short while in fresh water. They will not however be able to live for long because they need the calcium and other elements in sea water in order for them to get the neccessities for shell growth.
I've found that fiddler crabs can in fact live with other tropical fish, but the best type are mollies and goldfish. They tend to easily adjust to having a fiddler crab in with them.On the other hand, these crabs aren't entirely fresh water so there are certain conditions that you need to have in your tank. If you add aquarium salt to your tank, then your crab will have a better chance of surviving. When putting crabs in with aggressive fish I would be very cautious. There are ways of getting around losing your fish or crab, however. Temporarily removing your current fish and allowing the crab to settle will help it claim it's territory. If you adjust your plants and whatnot, then when you put your previous fish back in, they will have no choice but to adapt to being the newcomer in the tank. This will avoid some aggression between the two. Hope this helps!! I'm fairly new to aquariums so this is just from my experience. :)
It would be a silly thing to consider let alone actually do it. Fiddler crabs are from a marine environment so it would do them no good at all to be placed in fresh water.
It is a litoral animal it lives on the seashore and could not live anywhere else. It therefore can not live without water.
No, they live in salt water.
not long there gills will dry out and they will die
No, Hermit Crabs and Fiddler crabs require two different environments. The Hermit Crab would drown in the water a Fiddler Crab needs. You can always ask your local pet store if there is any way possible though. Some hermit crabs live on land others live in water even land hermit need two enter salt water , fiddler crabs are brackish or fresh hermit crabs can't breathe in those environments
yes because they can grow it back..its part of the malting process.

There many species of this small crab, living in colonies on mudflats and tidal beaches and marshes. So called fiddler crab because the males have on claw greatly exagerrated in size, resembling a violin player holding his violin up.

i hate you kind of water
Hermit crabs live on land, for they only need water to drink, not to live on/in.

in mangroves and on sandy or muddy beaches of West Africa, the Western Atlantic, Eastern Pacific and Indo-Pacific
No, Hermit Crabs and Fiddler Crabs are very different, and require two whole different living conditions. And Fiddler Crabs are very aggressive, and will probably attack the Hermit Crab anyway. So, in all, it just isn't a good idea.
