What fish can live with fighter fish?

Provided your container (aquarium) is large enough to house more fish using the 1 inch of fish per gallon of water rule, then most of the smaller tropical fish species are suitable. Siamese fighting fish (Betta splendens) will not fight with anything other than another of the same species.

They also fight other fish with long flowing tails, the females on the other hand have a bigger choice they can be with other female bettas.

Almost any of the smaller tropical fish will be OK with a Betta. Just remember the basic rule of fishkeeping. 1 inch of fish needs at least 1 gallon of water , a permanently running filter and at least 50% of its water changed every week.

Fighting fish (Betta splendens) are a slow moving and peacefull fish. They tend to be picked on by fin nipping species like some of the Barbs and are sometimes killed. If you only keep peacefull fish with a Betta, and your tank is large enough to house them, I see no reason why you should not keep a Betta in a community type aquarium.

i have a 44 gallon tank with 3 danios, 2 three spot gouramis, 1 honey gourami, 2 kuhli loaches, a huge gold fish, a type of catfish

(is black in color and has a few white strips) and a blood red fighter fish. to my experience, the gouramis did not do anything to the fighter fish so i suggest that it would be safe.

male fighting fish can be placed with very few other fish. they find fish with fins that stand out to be a threat and will attack them so try to avoid fish with attractive fins. female fighter fish are fine with other female fighter fish but im not to sure how they are with others

Definitely.I put my Betta fish in the tank with my other fish and he acts like there arent there! but make sure he's the LAST fish in your tank!
