Yes, their immune systems are very similar to a humans. Unfortunately for them, that is the reason they are so widely used in animal testing. They are prone to catching colds and other respiratory problems. They do get runny noses, sneezes, and small coughs. If it carries on for a couple of days, they aren't eating or drinking much, they begin to drop weight, or they have loose bowels with it be sure to take them to a vet. Respiratory problems can potentially kill them. Also, if you recently changed the type of bedding in their home, you may want to consider cleaning out their cage and switching back to the old style bedding to make sure the new type isn't causing a problem. Also be sure to not handle them too much if you are sick yourself. You can pass certain colds and flus on to your pet guinea pig.
