If your heart rate increases because of adrenaline (related to your emotional state) that is unlikely to kill you. There are some conditions, particularly ventricular fibrillation, in which increased heart rate can kill you, but in most forms of sickness, increased heart rate is not dangerous.

Should you have a very fast heart beat when you are resting?

According to some sources, the normal resting adult heart beats regularly at an average rate of 60 times per minute. If your heart rate does not exactly match that number, it does not necessarily mean that you are sick. Obviously, you had better check with your doctor for an accurate diagnostic. == ==
