Psilocybin, the drug in mushrooms, CAN be tested for, but is not a standard test. Unless someone wants to test for mushrooms specifically and order an expensive test kit, it wont be tested for.

Although it is possible to test for the chemicals contained within magic mushrooms, standard drug tests do not test for these substances. An extended test may screen for magic mushrooms, but it is uncommon for these tests to be administered unless there is a reason to test for magic mushrooms specifically (ie after an arrest for possession of mushrooms).

No salvia is salvia, Magic mushrooms are magic mushrooms. Salvia detects a certain kind of chemical not that im aware of, but mushrooms are completely different and psylocibin is the chemical the mushroom test is trying to find. Salvia does not contain psylocibin!

Short answer: Yes

Long answer: That depends on the type of test. The most common urine based drug tests only test for the "big 5": Marijuana, Cocaine, Amphetamines, Opiates, and PCP. While it is possible to test for the psilocybin in mushrooms, such a test would be expensive, and not very effective. Sources state that the psilocybin would not be detectable after 3 days to a week. I'd play it safe and either not do mushrooms, or give yourself over a week (10 days or more).

You can be tested for mushrooms, but normally you won't. (How's that for a weird answer?) There are two psychoactive chemicals in shrooms: psilocybin and psilocin. Psilocybin is the most famous one. Its first stage metabolite (what your body turns it into) is psilocin, which is also found in the mushroom tissue itself.

I can only think of two reasons to test someone for mushrooms. One is if you're on parole for a mushroom violation; in that case I would think you'll try to do more mushrooms and I'd test you to see if you were. The other is if you collected and ate a poisonous mushroom while looking for hallucinogenic ones, which is easier done than said because almost every hallucinogenic mushroom has a look-alike that will kill you if you eat it.

No. Magic mushrooms can only be tested for in a lab that has a Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry machine and that is certified for psilocybin.

Let me explain how certification works, because it's critical to understanding drug testing. You can't just call an equipment dealer, order a GC/MS and start testing urine samples. You first need a securable facility to house the machine. Then, you need trained operators and a set of protocols to ensure you can match samples to donors throughout the testing process. There is no doubt that if Lisa, Jane and Mary submit samples and Mary's is hot for weed, the positive result doesn't appear on Lisa's test form. Once you have all these things and the government (the organization is SAMSHA--Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, part of HHS) believes you have a good credible looking drug lab, they will send you a starter set of samples. Some are positive, some negative. You must get 100 percent on this test--all the samples that are positive must come up positive on your machine, all the negative samples must test negative. They send you confirmation samples on a regular basis, and they must also test correctly. Now this is the thing: you must attain certification on every drug you wish to test for. If you are set up as a DOT lab and you only have certificates for the five drugs DOT cares about--pot, cocaine, amphetamines, meth and PCP--you can't say you can test for barbiturates. Your machine might have a barbiturate profile in it, but if you're not certified to test for downers, you can't. All this came about because of the military: when they first opened the Fort Meade drug lab they said they could test urine for every drug in the world, and threw a lot of guys out of the military who were clean as a whistle because they either mixed up the chain of custody--put Private Smith's PCP positive on Private Jones's test form--or didn't run the tests right. Now you have to prove you can run a good drug test before they let you.

Yes, which is just one of the many reasons why you shouldn't be doing them in the first place.

How is the chemical in magic mushrooms detected?

A urine test could be used to determine if one has recently used magic mushrooms (mushrooms that contain psilocybin, psilocin, and related compounds). However, it is quite uncommon for urine tests to be given for magic mushrooms, except in cases where a magic mushroom offense is involved (such as if one was on probation for mushroom possession). In the event that a urine test for magic mushrooms is given, it would typically be able to detect usage within the last 1-3 days.

From my undestanding, when on probation, you recieve urine tests. Suave tests are for DUI situations to detect abuse within the last 3-6 hours.

What does shrooms show up as on a drug test?

Magic mushrooms will show up as psilocin and psilocybin on a drug test. These compounds are the primary active components of magic mushrooms. However, psilocin and psilocybin are not typically tested for.

How long after quitting smoking can nicotine be detected in the body?

The length of time nicotine can be detected depends on the type of testing used. Blood tests can detect nicotine up to 10 days after quitting, urine tests detect 3-4 days, saliva tests up to 4 days, and hair tests can detect nicotine up to 3 months after quitting.

Do products that work for urine tests work for saliva tests?

no, but saliva detection time is short.

Do magic mushrooms show up on a probation drug test?

Although it is quite uncommon to test for magic mushroom use, tests are available that can do so. Thus, whether or not magic mushrooms will show up on the test depends on the specific type of test administered. It is likely that if one were on probation for a magic mushroom-related offense, they would be given a test that would screen for magic mushroom use.
