Suicide is said to be caused by numerous things. Mental illness is one thing that is said to be related to suicide. Another rising popular contribution to suicide deaths is bullying in school aged children.
Mental illnesses can cause a great deal of distress to the sufferer from the symptoms alone which can lead to depression and intended suicide. There is also another reason which is linked to the discrimination of mental illness as people often assume that many mental illnesses are actually dangerous as they are negatively publicised in the media. For example: roughly 30-40% of Schizophrenia sufferers have had one violent episode in their life, these episodes are what are publicised by the media and a stereotype develops that all Schizophrenia sufferers are violent when in reality almost all of them are not and only 30-40% have had only one violent episode in their life. This discrimination spans all mental illnesses and can lead to mental illness sufferers becoming unemployed, social pariahs and subject to manipulation and violent attacks within a community. In the same respect as what is stated about, this can also lead to depression and intended suicide.
It is best to fully research mental ill-health to ensure that you understand what a mental illness actually is, and hopefully reduced the suicide rates of the mentally ill.

I feel like this isn't a question that can get a factual answer. This is a question based on your personal moral opinion. As for me, I don't think anyone should be "allowed" to commit suicide; however, a person with mental illness has as much right over their body as someone who does not.
