But as for the rest of the poison dart frogs, someone would have to go out of their way to do more than get really sick from handling one of these creatures improperly. Special precautions are necessary around the animals, to be sure. It turns out that all of these frogs can be kept as pets as their toxin is not make by them but "picked up" from other things the frog eats - mainly ants and mites. I am not an expert on this but I would think not. Poison Dart Frogs do not produce their own poison, they get it from the species of ants they eat. This means that they can ingest the toxin, they use it by secreting the poison through their skin. So logically speaking, the poison of all the frogs is the same, meaning that they cannot affect each other.
