∙ 13y agoPoliceman probably got doughnuts as a quick thing to eat so if they got called out for a robber or something they can just stuff it in there mouth or throw it out without wasting a lot of money but now a lot of policeman don't eat a lot of doughnuts.

∙ 9y agoFor the same reason many non-cops eat donuts, because they're a quick snack, they're tasty and they're cheap. The reason why cops gained the donut-eater reputation is because they frequently visit donut shops where they would often get free or cheap coffee to talk over. If a place gave you free stuff, wouldn't you go there often too?
Because they taste delicious!

It depends. In Brazil it cannot, the police officer would be committing a crime of corruption, even if he was not offered or asked for any favor. In the US, probably not.
